Earbuds

I recently got a new pair of earbuds. Compared to my old ones, they've got much better battery life, they sync up much easier with Bluetooth, and they even have noise cancelling. But as nice as they are, if I don't charge them every so often, they will be silent without any power. If I don't keep them close enough to the device they are paired to, then, again, they will be silent. Ironically, if either of the above happens, then the noise cancelling won't work and I won't be able to filter out sounds I don't want to hear. To all of us who have been baptized and been given the gift of the Holy Ghost, we have been given our own little earbuds in the form of the still, small voice of the Holy Ghost. But this gift becomes less effective if we don't treat it properly. If we do not exercise our faith to listen for, give heed to, and act upon the whisperings of the Spirit in our ear, then our Holy ear bud will not have the power to pierce our minds and hearts with sufficient force to move us to obey. If we start to stay too far from the covenants we have made, we will lose our connection to the heavenly source and the guidance and instruction coming from our Holy ear bud will become garbled or cut out all together. And if we want to cancel out the noise of the world, the doubts and the fears, the evil and the wickedness, the hatred and the strife, then we have to make sure that our Holy ear bud is not being cut off from the power of our faith or the connection of our covenants. I know that if we keep our Holy ear bud fully charged and fully paired, then we will benefit from the constant companionship of the Spirit and always be led and taught all things that we should do.
