The Same Spirit

"And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone." (Numbers 11:17). When we commit ourselves to sustaining our church leaders and helping you bear their burdens, we may view this as a sacrifice on our part, a duty and an obligation and perhaps a privilege performed out of obedience without an expectation for recognition or reward. But the Lord promises that when we sustain our leaders, He will take that same spirit which is in them and put it upon us. When we truly sustain our bishops and stake presidents, the Lord will take the same spirit that leads and guides them and put it on us. And when we sustain our prophet and apostles, again, the Lord will take the same spirit which is in them and put it on us. If we want to see farther and understand deeper and to feel more keenly the Lord's presence in our lives, then we ought to sustain our leaders and the Lord will bless us with the same spirit.
