Still

“Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven.” (D&C 121:45). A still is an apparatus that distills liquid mixtures through a process of heating to boil and then cooling to condense to separate and purify the different components. When it comes to distilling the doctrines of the priesthood upon our souls, this can only happen in one way - through the still, small voice of the Holy Ghost. Think about it. One of the ways that we describe feeling the Spirit is a burning in our bosom. Truth poured from Heaven into our Hearts through the still, small voice of the Spirit is hot enough to burn like fire. This heat boils all of our knowledge and certainty, as well as our doubts and fears. But how else do we describe the voice of the Spirit? Does it not speak peace to our soul? Does it not soothe and cool our worried minds and hearts, and calm the raging tempest that's inside of us? Thanks to the Still, the apparatus that heats and cools our hearts, truth can be distilled from the lies, peace can be separated out from chaos, love can be purified and strengthened. I'm so grateful that the Holy Ghost knows just when to burn with fire and to cool and soothe, and by so doing with His still, small voice He can distill the doctrines of the Priesthood upon our souls.
