Proof of God

When the Savior was teaching in the temple, the Scribes and Pharisees wanted to know who taught him, by whose authority did he do these things, how could they trust Him if He was the only witness? The Savior taught them that He was taught by His Father, that He did all good works in His Father’s name and to His Father’s glory, and that His Father bore witness of His divine mission. A lot of times we want to ask God for proof. Well how do I know this will really work, how can I trust that you have my best interest at heart, what proof do you have that this will be worth it? The thing is, we have so much proof before us. Not only do we have a witness of God’s power and goodness from countless examples in the scriptures, but there are so many times in our own lives when God has blessed our lives whether we asked for it or not, whether we deserve it or not, whether we even knew it was something that we needed or wanted but after we received it we couldn’t imagine our lives without those blessings. If we are struggling to accept this or that commandment or prompting of the Spirit, we can always plead with the Lord to bring to our remembrance all the things that God has done not only for us but for all of our forebears and then we can renew our confidence that God is a God of tender mercies.
