Too Little For The Lamb

“And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.” The Passover, which was a symbol for the Sacrifice that Jesus would one day make, required that a lamb be sacrificed and eaten by every family. But if a family was too small to eat the lamb all by themselves, then they were to join together with their neighbors. Have we ever been in a position where the Lord has blessed us with more than we needed or could realistically use up all by ourselves or for our own little family? What should we do when there is not enough room in our house to receive all of the blessings that the Lord has poured out upon us? What should we do if we are too little for the lamb? We should share with our neighbors, of course. If we feel that we don't always deserve all that the Lord has given us, then maybe we are right. Maybe the Lord wanted to test us a little to see if we would listen to the enticings of the Spirit and have our hearts stirred up by the pure love of Christ and pass on to those who were more desperate for assistance than we. As we have chosen to follow those promptings, the abundance that would only have gone to waste instead ends up right where we are needed. And just as we can and should have the humility to share from our cup when it is running over, we should also have the humility to receive what our neighbors are moved by inspiration to share with us when we ourselves are in dire straits. It cost our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ everything to go through with that great and last Sacrifice. It would be a shame if we allowed any of that sacrifice to go to waste just because we were too little for the lamb and yet did not invite our neighbor to come over and share in the feast set before us. I hope that we will all always look for opportunities to share in the blessings of the Lamb.
