We often talk about the importance of receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. But it is just as important for us to give as to receive. Our Heavenly Father does not give us the gift of the Holy Ghost solely for our benefit. The remarkable thing about this particular gift is the more that we give it away to others, the more of it we still have remaining with us. When the Holy Ghost speaks peace to our souls, it is not only so that we can have peace just for ourselves, but also so that we are in the right frame of mind to go out and make peace with those around us. The Holy Ghost does not manifest the truth of all things to us just to strengthen our testimonies by themselves, but so that we will go out and share our testimonies and carry that same certainty and conviction that we feel into their hearts as well. The Holy Ghost is a gift that is meant to be shared out, not horded to ourselves. By giving the gift of the Holy Ghost to others, we create a bond of gift sharing and our hearts are knit together by the pure love of Christ that is embodied by our mutual possession of the gift of the Holy Ghost. I hope that we are always quick to share out any and all gifts of the Spirit that we receive to those who need it the most.
