According To The Grace That Is Given To Us
"Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us," (Romans 12:6). The Savior's grace looks different for each of us. The Savior knows each of us, and He knows exactly which gifts and manifestations of His power will be the most beneficial to each of us personally. We should feel neither jealous nor guilty if divine aid comes to us in a form that is much different from our friends and families and neighbors. When Noah confronted water, the Savior's grace gave him the power to build an Ark. When Moses confronted water, the Savior's grace gave him the power to part the Red Sea. When Peter confronted water, the Savior's grace gave Him power to walk upon the water. When Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego faced fire, the Savior's grace gave them the power to not be burned. When Abinadi faced fire, the Savior's grace gave him the power to give the last full measure of his devotion and face his death without fear. Grace will always be tailored specifically to our needs, challenges, abilities and purpose. Rather than wishing we could walk on water instead of having to figure out how to build a boat, or wishing we could pass through the flames without feeling them, we will draw closer to the Lord and open the channels to His power more widely and freely when we learn to embrace the unique gifts and grace that He is so willing and eager to bestow upon us. The more faith and diligence we apply to humbly accepting with full purpose of heart the gifts and grace and power and will of the Lord, the more we will come to see and value and appreciate how perfectly the Lord is laying our path before us and giving us the exactly right balance of freedom and guidance and opportunities to learn and grow and progress. I know that God's gifts are different for each of us and that He will bless us more than we can comprehend if we will allow Him to strengthen and empower and enlighten us in our own unique ways according to the specific grace that is given to each of us.
