“Nevertheless, ye are blessed, for the testimony which ye have borne is recorded in heaven for the angels to look upon; and they rejoice over you, and your sins are forgiven you.” (D&C 62:3). In the court of law, every testimony is recorded word for word so that it may be reviewed and examined in the aid of finding the truth. Similarly, when we bear witness of the truth of our Lord Jesus Christ and His Gospel, our testimonies are recorded in Heaven word for word. When juries are studying the facts of the case to determine what must be done, they are given transcripts of all of the testimonies in case they can't recall perfectly what was said. We have the same opportunity. We can't always literally get a physical copy of the testimonies that we have borne, but we can plead for the Holy Ghost to bring to our memory the words that we once uttered with such conviction. We have all gone through periods of stronger and weaker faith, of more and less demanding trials and afflictions, and through lighter and darker clouds of doubt and despair. That is why it is so important that whenever we are able, but especially at those times when our faith is at its strongest, that we bear our testimonies in words or in deeds so that they may be recorded in Heaven. That way, when we are lost and confused and feel like we can no longer remember a time when we were happy, or at peace, or sure of anything, then we can ask for those records of better and more confident days. It is always a comfort when the Holy Ghost speaks to us, but it is so much more meaningful when we are wracked with doubt and confusion and the Holy Ghost is able to bring to our minds word for word our own testimonies and the fire and the rock hard certainty that we felt when we uttered them. I hope that we all find moments to share our testimony as often as possible, so that we have reams and reams of transcripts of recorded testimony that we can rely on when we temporarily lose our connection to our faith.
