“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:2-3). I believe that our place in Heaven will fit us perfectly for two reasons. One reason is that Christ Himself has prepared a place for us. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows every time we've felt uncomfortable or at ease, threatened or safe, depressed or joyful. He knows what we don't like and the things that we love. We will be amazed at how unbelievably perfect our place in Heaven fits us just right. But there is a second reason why we will feel so comfortable and right in the place that Christ has prepared for us. Because as diligently as Christ is preparing a place for us, He is working even harder to prepare us for our place in Heaven. Only those who conform to Celestial laws would be comfortable dwelling in the Celestial Kingdom. Christ is going through all of this effort to prepare both us and a place for us to dwell because He desires so much to dwell there with us. Wherever we are, He wants to be there too. But He can dwell only in the Celestial Kingdom, which means He has to get us ready to dwell there too if we are ever going to be Heavenly roommates together. And honestly, if we don't bother to try and get to know Jesus here in this life when we so desperately need His help every moment of our lives, then what makes us think that we would change our minds and still try to build a relationship with Him once we're in the absolute perfect place in Heaven and no longer need a Savior every moment of the day. This life is a gift to build a relationship with someone who has the ability and the desire to be our best friend and biggest supporter, so that the bonds we forge in the furnace of affliction and the crucible of adversity will sustain us throughout all of the eternities. If we will let Christ into our lives so that together we can do the work to prepare ourselves for our place in our Father's House, then we will be so much more appreciative of our place in the Kingdom of God.
